    It reminds me of the parents who insist that under no circumstances is the dog allowed to sleep on their child’s bed with the child. Guess who always ends up sleeping with the child after about a week of “just this once”s.

    The smile in the last panel demonstrates Garfield’s “literacy”! (and, bye-the-bye, you may be deemed “illiterate” if you CANNOT or simply WILL NOT read! Functional illiteracy refers more to someone who ‘willfully’ refuses to read!) And WHY am I posting such trivia now? If you follow politics in America then the refreshing of that particular definition MAY be useful.
