You’ll have lots of company on that one, Koko.

A problem exist in New England….there are not enough local dogs in the shelters to meet demand. There are Rescue Shelters that arrange adoptions of dogs that they transport to New England from down South for a profit. The South is loaded with puppy mills selling dogs to Rescue Shelters elsewhere…..so, invariably the demand for puppies fuels the puppy mills. Our dog came from a Rescue Shelter in Vermont by way of Alabama. Was I part of the problem…or part of the solution by adopting him?

Didn’t California just ban them?

So now only bad guys have puppy mills?

I have to wonder if the cartoonist society has an award for activism and social awareness? This strip needs to be awarded that recognition many times over.

There is far to much cruelty in this world to our beloved animals. But by going to animal shelters each of us is trying to make a difference by loving and caring for these wonderful companions. We all have good intentions.
