Way-y-y-y-y back there was a song called “Magic Carpet Ride.” Not sure I ever heard the lyrics but loved the instrumental version. Still sounds like an adventurous way to travel.

I wonder if Charlie Brown is referring to the trip he took to the national spelling bee in the movie “A Boy Named Charlie Brown,” which came out a couple of years before this strip. Probably not since it happened outside the strip, but an interesting coincidence.
