Hi Bullwinkle56
That sounds like an excellent idea – I’ll ask Calvin what he thinks about it.
Now, I have to reveal something to you: Actually, I am the real Hobbes, but during the past few weeks, for the sake of some of the readers on this site, I have been pretending not to be Hobbes, by posing as simply a commentator named Hobbes. That’s because some of the readers got confused during November and December, when I was pretending to be a commentator who was pretending to be me. So, during January I’ve tried to greatly simplify everything for everyone (as is always my nature……. ) And by the way, for a couple of months there were also some readers who thought I was Bill Watterson pretending to be Hobbes. But I don’t pretend to be Bill Watterson.
There, that clears everything up. See, it all makes sense! …….. See? …… See??…………
They never see……

P.S. All of this is confidential information, so please don’t let anyone else know.
@Hobbes ain’t your nature to run for tuna sandwiches?? I made one for you today. Calvin, tell hobbes he can have it anytime he wants.. It’s in the refrigerator….
PS don’t tell Hobbes the refrigerator has got a salmon sandwich behind the tuna one too.
Ahh, the plight of all superheroes. After they save the world, who thanks them, or even pays for the repairs to their costumes? Better get used to it, Spaceman Spiff, and Tracer Bullet, and all your other alter-egos.
I had forgotten this sequence, so I was fully expecting mom and dad to burst out laughing. Love Calvin’s face in the last panel. He looks like a little old man.
“as Spaceman Spiff sits in the alien prison, entrapped by the snow goon dominions used by the alien leaders to ensnare him, soon a plan of escape will come to him as he snaps out of his gloomy mood and regains his super hero confidence.”
HOBBES: I agree that you are not PRETENDING to be Bill Watterson. I still think you ARE Bill Watterson. Said so then, still think so. Otherwise, you are a mind reader who knows just what Calvin’s buddy is thinking.
Hobbes, it is with great glee that I inform you that I am turning your name into Aspocc. American society provention of cruelty to Calvin.
I have been waiting for an answer for a while now. waitingggggggg? Why don’t they answer???
No, I am not Bill Watterson. But being Hobbes, I have noticed that sometimes Bill Watterson does have a tendency to think like me. Maybe that’s the source of the confusion.
I’ve noticed that a lot of commentators on this site tend to think like Bill Watterson, and they also tend to have a sense of humor similar to his. I guess that’s partly what attracted them to reading “Calvin and Hobbes” in the first place.
The look on his father’s face indicates the thought “school psychologist - starting next week”. For Calvin, of course, and maybe a stiff drink and a long walk with his wife for Dad to talk about it all…..
I can at least see–often–what Bill Watterson is thinking, but come up with these ideas? Not in a hundred and sixty four years. That’s why I am clearly not going to be tapped as an author.
Calvin it makes sense to me in your very creative way. I Do see what you are saying.
Hobbes’ explanation (which was wonderful, by the way) was as confusing to me as the parents are confusing to Calvin. SOOO, I see…as long as I wear my glasses.
HOBBES says he isn’t Bill Watterson in disguise, but you know there are a lot of things you read on the internet that just aren’t true. His denial might just be one of those things.
I’m gonna have to agree with HOBBES that he is not Bill Watterson. Not that I don’t appreciate his comments, it just doesn’t strike me as very Watterson-esque to disguise himself as Hobbes and claim that it is not just an internet alias. Doesn’t seem to go with his whole anti-liscensing view- all his deliberate efforts to keep Calvin and Hobbes out of media besides the comic strip. Also, I don’t perceive either Watterson or Hobbes as liars, so if he says he’s not, I don’t think he is.
That said, feel free to keep commenting, HOBBES. I think most of us enjoy reading what you have to say.

Hmmm……….. I guess I could try saying that I am Bill Watterson, so that Mythreesons would assume that I am not him, but then that would create the risk that someone else might believe me.
And I used to think that life with Calvin was complicated.
Calvin and Hobbes is my favorite… We used to call it “Zachary and Hobbes” because my brother is so much like Calvin… Only I was the one who had the Hobbes-like friend :)

gofinsc almost 14 years ago
If he hadn’t coated them with ice, Calvin could have demonstrated that there are no mitten-prints on any of the goons except the first one.
One would hope that even in his retirement Bill Watterson would have better things to do than Hobbesian pontifications.
