As someone who suffers with severe arthritis, I can tell you that cold, damp, rainy whether is the WORST for pain. Interestingly, HOT, humid weather (think Florida) actually feels GOOD. Sort of like a sauna.
I thought it has to do with the barometric pressure changing during storms. So not necessarily the rain itself but the pressure. Here’s an interesting article from WebMD about it: https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/features/weather_and_pain#1

Rain ? Maybe not the warm monsoon rains…. but you can’t tell my aching joints, that cold and dampness don’t affect them !
