Wow! They’ve really improved the design on those wacky, waving, inflatable arm flailing tube men!

Don’t listen to them, Odysseus! You can see that one of them is a lyre.

    Ulysses and the Sirens

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Carl_von_Blaas_-_Ulyssus_and_Sirens_(1882).jpg

(best viewed by Google Chrome – can translate pages if necessary) has info and links that point to info about this painting.

Again, those who read German can probably find other info about this artist – I couldn’t find anything, that Chrome could translate, other than what’s (perhaps indirectly) pointed to by the above URL. This is the first work by him used here. Maybe you recognize his last name from prior strips that used works by his son, Eugene.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #1867 (January 18, 2017) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment.

I thought the Sirens had women’s heads and bird’s bodies.

Best set of comments I’ve seen yet. This gang should go to the “political” section and go after Glen McCoy’s stuff! Nah! You folks are to good to waste your time with that old prune.
