Scooter can appreciate a wine from its nose, and a steak from its drippings. My dog certainly sniffs up the place (though not the tabletop) after we finish dinner.

Get your kicks, on Route 66.

I love Lee Marbone in this picture!

    Wow, Stel… nice job!

    We’ve got “The Wild One”…

for the November 17th, 2020, Cleo and Company, on Sherpa!

This film always has an air of forbidden fruit about it.

My Mom wouldn’t let me see any Marlon Houndo pictures when I was a kid… especially The Wild One!

I think she was afraid I would be influenced by his famed sexuality,

    along with his bad attitude.

Funny, cos I never found him the least bit attractive…..

he seemed old, and his 1950’s slang was foreign. and dated.

But she did let me see James Dean Dog’s films….

and “Basset Without A Cause” influenced me a lot more than the Wild One would, when I later saw it.

It was a few years later, and Dean Dog was younger… even though he was playing a teenager when he was really 25.

He still looked the part,…. and very handsome, with that perfect, insolent slouch.

Houndo never struck that nerve with me….

he was almost 30, and looked it, and didn’t show quite the same vulnerability, though he was also portraying alienated youth.

But I know his influence, and that of this movie, was very strong on Howlywood and society….

and I’m sure it paved the way for James Dean Dog.

I wondered whether the humans didn’t remake this….

so I searched, and apparently they tried….

with the same title, even…. what gall!

    I’m running late, and i didn’t find a very similar poster….

Just this one, that seemed to be influenced by the basset version:

Maybe I can find a better one later, if no one else does.

which is – as you can clearly see from the copyright – from this date http://www.comicssherpa.com/site/feature?uc_comic=cscwy&uc_full_date=20180206

There is no human version that’s standing a chance against StelBel’s artwork. Therefore, I took the liberty to get the still active links Susan provided back then:

@Susan If you must go back there: Be prepared… (sigh)

OK… in my first search, I didn’t find a better human copy of Sttel’s poster than the same one I’d found before….

which didn’t look much like Stel’s .. then or now.

Still can’t find one… but sometimes the humans never do produce one just like hers….

after all… how can they compete?

    I did find this photo….

    https://i.pinimg.com/564x/55/f9/1d/55f91debaaceb4182fcad7d19e97c813.jpg

which looks like the actors are posed to resemble her work.

    Are they copying you, Stel?

Good morning, Ballardeers! and Dry! Q Date: 249.98478.91 and everyone is working from home… again… sigh

Scooter is always getting into something.

Houndo was never a favorite of mine, either. And the Mild One was pretty much a bust with me.

And one more for Dry… “I’m a man, but I can change, If I have to, I guess.”

    (((((HUGS))))) for y’all. (FOOP)

Love today’s poster, Stel! However, I never liked the movie. Not even sure I saw it. But the sweet bassets portrayed look so nice and friendly.

Like Susan, I was never a fan of Mr. Houndo.

a great line from that movie was Brando’s answer to the question " Hey Johnny! Whatcha rebelling against?"

    Brando: “Waddia got?”
