If I start talking about my favorite performers, even my stepson, who’s a professional musician, sometimes looks at me with a blank stare.
Not only do I have a generation gap to contend with, – including my wife, who’s 15 years younger – but a cultural one as well, since many of the musicians and groups I like, my South American family have never heard of !
Gee, my favorite bands were Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, and other swing bands of the 1930s and 1940s. (Actually, they still ARE my favorites!)
