    I read a post where a person put a bowl of eggs into a microwave to cook them faster. Basically not as bad as this but they were cleaning egg off everything for quite awhile. Also the explosion was so loud, the fire dept showed up. FYI, do not heat coffee with cream and sugar in it either. You may get burned with it explodes.

    That reminds me of an incident many years ago. In our business breakroom; 2 or3 of our employees were just plain lazy and would put their food into the microwave and just set it for 1 hour then sit down and let it run for a minute or two and get up and turn it off. One day one of the lazy ones put a Sonic foot long chili hot dog with mustard and onions in the microwave and set it for an hour and sat down. A few seconds later they were called to the front of the store to help with a sudden influx of customers and when they finally got back to the breakroom more than an hour later; the Sonic foot long had exploded! It was the worst mess I have ever seen inside of a microwave. Luckily it didn’t catch fire. We had to throw the microwave out.

    If you use a (usually craft-made) potato baking bag, you don’t have to poke holes. And they come out soft and evenly baked! NO explosions!

    It depends on the size of the potato for me whether I poke holes in it or not. If it is large I will poke to the middle on all sides to ensure it cooks thoroughly. I also wrap it in wax paper to keep it moist and to be closer in flavor to an oven baked potato. So, even if the potato were to explode it would be contained.
