Doc Chase: Sausage Savant

Looks like Doc is keeping his head on straight as usual.

There is an obvious clue that should clear Foxworthy. . . the blood pool it covers several feet of the pavement. It takes time for the blood spread, too much time for a fresh stabbing. Cooper has been dead for a while.

Foxworthy should have listened when the fishhead said “it’s a trap!”

Maybe it is a Topsider-run operation… mutants as a dietary supplement. i imagine the Topsider diet isn’t a whole lot better than the Endtowners.

If Foxworthy is jailed as a murder suspect, that’s probably the safest place for him at the moment though not the most comfortable. We’ve already seen that some of the Endtown residents are capable of forming lynch mobs. The police said Foxworthy is in “deep trouble”; it’s more like “deep danger”.

I agree with Erwin Schwartz — the police nabbed Foxworthy at the murder scene but the murder had been committed much earlier. Foxworthy can likely prove where he was prior to his scheduled meeting with Cooper.

I’m curious to find out who the anonymous tipper was. Someone who wanted Foxworthy out of the way, apparently, and set the whole thing up.

Kudos to the doc for maintaining an objective point of view.

A smokehouse means there’s somewhere that produces smoke, and that smoke has to go somewhere or else it will be detected. Also, where’s the wood that the smokehouse is using coming from?

CSI Endtown solves another case without any proof Philo did the dirty deed. It might make sense if Cooper was a pig. Philo could be seen as Harvesting his meaty bits but Cooper was more a what than a who. Observations……Cooper was stabbed by some one taller than him. The knife is angled down and appears to be a single strike. He was alive when stabbed as blood has flowed from the knife wound. Circulation was still going at stab time. There may have been a struggle based on the blood scattered about. It might not be all his!! Cooper was a big dude so his attacker or attackers had to been known to him to get close to knife him. Cooper was no easy target……this was planned and Cooper knew his attacker(s). Grout is making the first mistake in an investigation……jumping at the obvious.

My my, those Endtown cops are quite the ones for jumping to conclusions.

Well yes, there must be a smokehouse, unless (gasp!) they came from somewhere outside Endtown. Why it’s almost as if someone opened a hole in mid air that led to a sausage factory. I doubt Doc has the facilities for DNA analysis, though maybe Mallard does…. ;-)

So the sausages are pork. But are they “pork” pork, or “mutated people who LOOK like pigs” pork?

Although, I will admit the way the wolves have been carrying on has been rather distracting, to say the least…

Thank god Endtown has Doc, they’d be completely lost without him. It’s grim how the poor guy’s basically been promoted to chief of forensics simply because there’s probably no-one else in the town with much medical knowledge, he’s being made to deal with a lot of nasty stuff.

And mostly unrelated, but I just thought about how much more difficult his job would be since the mutations. Human beings don’t really have any major physical differences from each other, but their animal forms? There are probably at the very least a hundred different types of body Doc would have to learn how to treat.

If the mood in Endtown is ugly, they’ll need something to cheer them up. How about a nice big barbecue?

Him sweating like that makes me think he either admits to being a complete amateur, since a smokehouse would probably smell a lot – or something else is wrong.

Watching Doc handling the “evidence”, I began to wonder…. The box not only contains sausages—but they are also human remains. What kind of decorum would be appropriate here?

As far as Philo is concerned, what matters is not what the people believe, but what the authorities can prove. Or at least it should. The case against Heather was much stronger than this one, and she walked. Rightly so since the case was entirely circumstantial and reeked of reasonable doubt. But if Heather was exonerated simply because the victim was a wolf, and if Philo is being set up simply because he is a fox, then Endtown may already be beyond help. Maybe Jake should look into taking up the fiddle…

Wait a minute… Smoked? This doesn’t make sense. If they have a smokehouse, how come no-one has found it yet? The only other source of smoked pork links would be endtown’s own food stores. It’s too convenient.
