I think people are misreading this. They are mourning the loss of their den, to which they had a nostalgic attachment. The pups were not in the den when it was bulldozed. They are faced with a serious difficulty, not a tragedy.
They raised their family in that den, but they escaped when the dozers showed up. They are losing their homes at alarming rates (which is why we see coyotes and such in suburbs on occasion). We are displacing the animals by tearing down the environment… and not leaving any for them.
A student in my college who opposed government-sponsored development of wild lands titled her senior thesis “Coyotes on the Plains, Wolves in Congress.”
People who feel and express compassion for those who have ora re depicted to have tragedies are more compassionate to others and that is a good thing. When others make fun of people feeling compassion they show they don’t have any at all. people who can’t feel any compassion or empathy are Not good Leaders.

We always get a kick out of the mice and today, tiny mice sitting in tiny chairs. What don’t they have on board.
