So far, I’m really impressed with how this has been handled. I think it recognizes the value of self-control without shaming anyone for their desires. They’re validated as normal. I don’t even feel like it criticizes people who make different choices.
Not to mention that they’re treating a person with a disability as a normal person who fully participates in society. Y’know, like they do in real life. Her blindness is acknowledged, but not focused on.
I may be missing something awful that should be obvious, but it’s definitely getting some important things right.
I’ve always thought that girls had more self control because they have more to lose. But with The Pill, the down side of sex is lessened; and I think (may be wrong) girls don’t have as much self control as they have had. I also think (again, may be wrong) that STDs are worse for girls than for boys.
The double standard is the part that gets me. As I high school boy I was getting it regularly, and everyone thought I was a god. Meanwhile my girlfriend who gave it up, everyone thinks is bad. P.S. We’re still together 37 years later.
