So Charlie Brown was born in 1963? Hardly makes sense to me since “Peanuts” began in the 1950s.

That’s not so bad. The 80s was the best decade… at least in music.

Those of us who have read George Orwell’s “1984” understand why Charlie Brown is rolling his eyes in the last panel — it figures that THAT would be the year that he comes of age!

He’ll be able to celebrate playing the brand-new Tetris!

It was a brave new world back then, wasn’t it??

I remember this strip from when I was young. Aside from the fact I didn’t get the reference to 1984 at that age I remember being pleased that Charlie Brown and I were the same age. Funny what you the memories these strips bring back

Speaking of Orwellian, I heard on the radio this morning that some airlines are actually basing the fares that they quote on a person’s browsing history. For those customers who browsing indicates more income, they charge more.

I am not joking. Also, the news was not on some far-right crazy program. It was part of the regular aviation news every morning on WLW in Cincinnati. The speaker is known for being reliable.

Now, my curiosity is really raised. Is the story really true? If so, yet another reason to use Duck Duck Go or Tor.

I’m glad to see they left the original years in this one – some of the other rerun comics tend to try and update them and to those of us who were around for the first-run, it is annoying..

The joke was on Charlie Brown. 1984 came, and no one in the strip had aged except Rerun- and even he didn’t advance by much.

Personally, 1984 was one of the worst years of my life…and that’s all I’ll say about that.

1984 was (IMO) when pop music hit its peak. After that, the good stuff was no longer popular and the popular stuff was no longer very good.

Interesting. I don’t remember ever seeing this one before, or any specific number put down for CB’s age.I think of them as perpetual 2nd graders, which goes well with age 8 I remember early strips which placed CB, Patty, & Violet as 1st or 2nd grade, Sherm as a year older, and Lucy & Schroeder as younger (though they were aged-up at some point).Linus was added later with Lucy as big sister, and quickly caught up.Sally was added after that and caught up partway – has always been a year or two behind the main cast in school.

Don’t worry, Chuck. All’s well that Orwell… ;-D

Forever young Chuck, at least by 1984, Vietnam was over, you could enlist and go to school on the GI bill, without having to face combat. Therefore, Rejoice!

What’s scary is that some of us here are old enough to remember when 1984 was the future.

Orwell reference?

“Thought-Crime does not entail death. Thought-Crime is death. " I’m beginning to believe that Mr. Orwell was only off by a century.

This was skipped over in the last 1971 Peanuts rerun cycle in 2003, and now it finally is rerun in the second 1971 rerun cycle.

When I was in sixth grade, I suddenly realized I was going to be around in the year 2000. Holy Future! I excitedly sat down to figure out just how old I’d be when it happened, and when I realized I’d be in my 40s, I lost my enthusiasm, because by the time I was that old, I’d be bored and tired of life anyway.

He’s only 8? I thought CB was 10 or 11.

Comic strip characters are immortals. They do not age.

You expect the Orwell future or the Apple future?
