    Skylar always knows how to make history relevant for today. A sideways view of the world makes you think.

    The lack of affordable healthcare in this country will eventually lead to an epidemic. People who are sick won’t seek help because they can’t afford it and the plague will spread. That is one reason to have universal healthcare.

    The Black Plague killed so many leaving clothing piling up. The clothing was the basis for paper. With an abundant supply of rags, paper was more available, less expensive making printing books more available. (Very condensed version of a horrible period of history)

    What’s frightening is that some kids in the real world would give that answer.

    @Lee Dawson

    For me, I prefer the capitalistic way where every person has the opportunity to succeed or fail. Without the chance to fail, there can be no success.

    - See I don’t want to depend on the govt or others giving me, I much prefer to earn it the old fashioned way, Work for It!

    Lee, I’m retired and worked all my life for what little pension I have left for my old age. I discovered several years ago, that as a pensioner, I could no longer afford the luxury of living in the U.S. without continuing to work at least two “part-time” jobs.

    I chose, instead to move to one of those socialist countries, you so decry – Ecuador. For the past 5 years I have been very happy to call this my home.

    The following isn’t about Ecuador but is about those miserable socialist countries you spoke of/ Thought you might enjoy reading about them….
