The lack of affordable healthcare in this country will eventually lead to an epidemic. People who are sick won’t seek help because they can’t afford it and the plague will spread. That is one reason to have universal healthcare.
The Black Plague killed so many leaving clothing piling up. The clothing was the basis for paper. With an abundant supply of rags, paper was more available, less expensive making printing books more available. (Very condensed version of a horrible period of history)

Lee, I’m retired and worked all my life for what little pension I have left for my old age. I discovered several years ago, that as a pensioner, I could no longer afford the luxury of living in the U.S. without continuing to work at least two “part-time” jobs.
I chose, instead to move to one of those socialist countries, you so decry – Ecuador. For the past 5 years I have been very happy to call this my home.
