Humans evolved as meateaters, would not be what they are today, if not for meateating. But it’s more than just biology that evolved. Culture has evolved, too. We have a culture where food is plentiful, so meateating is no longer a necessity. We can indulge in the luxury – and it is a luxury – of a vegan diet.
Vegans can’t help being the way they are. Big brains require more high-quality protein than a purely vegan diet can provide… unless you nibble 24/7 like a panda.
You can’t make a plausible ethical argument for any of the various flavors of vegetarianism. The fact is that all animals live at the expense of other animals, if only in that every piece of fruit you eat is not available for eating by some other animal. In order to raise the soybeans to make into your tofuburgers, you have to clear land, which is to say destroy habitat, which is to say consign a lot of animals to slow starvation or death by opportunistic diseases.
Eating healthy is done best by a little awarness of what goes in. I recently got a bit of a wake up call from the Dr about eating right. Sensible changes mostly, no fried foods, I dropped potatoes and subbed other types for that, like brown rice. Cut back bread to almost 0, more fresh fruits and veggies. What I eat, including less meat, in portions, not servings. Being more aware of calorie count, that and excersize is the key. But if you want a real jar to your senses watch the movie Food Inc. or visit their website.
If for no other reason than air quality, vegetarianism should be banned. When my son went vegan for about a year and a half, he had the most malodorous emanations from his gastric system that you can imagine. Imagine all the methane that would be emitted if everyone were composting only veggie material in their systems.
If for no other reason than air quality, vegetarianism should be banned…
It occurred to me not long ago that Buffalo Bill should be celebrated as a Green hero for sparing Mother Earth’s atmosphere all those billions of bison toots.
Thanks whitecarabao.
This was starting to sound like one of those typical web-haters-group boards. * shudder *
I suspect it was all that meat talking. Carnivores can get quite aggressive.
;)
I’m coming in so late in this, but I just needed to say this:
I eat meat, I love meat, I wish vegetables were made of meat. But, I also recognize THAT’S MY OWN FRIGGING CHOICE. It doesn’t make me smarter, more special, more perfect, funnier, more pleasant, than anyone else on the planet, whether they eat meat or not. I think we can all agree that the Zealot Vegan Police are rude in thinking they can push their agenda on everyone else, someone’s choice to eat or not eat meat is their choice, and it’s cool by me if they want to put up a comic about it.
Actually the thing that makes me better is not being a douche about my opinion. :P

I knew I liked Boody for a reason. (As to Dudley, bucket if it can’t take a joke.)

Are you sure your advice holds for dragons?

Somebody once said: “I’m not vegetarian because I love animals, I’m vegetarian because I hate plants.”

Amen, prrdh! The cycle of life (and death) cannot be broken or denied.
So true Darkeforce. People need to investigate nutrition. You won’t stay healthy on a “politically correct” diet. It is a slow fade.
My Mate had me on a purely vegetarian diet for some years but I finally had to go back to biting the occasional animal for health reasons!
If you are human then you really do need to eat some meat.
Just treat it with respect ‘cause it had to die so you could live.

I didn’t climb to the top of the food chain to be a vegetarian.

Hey folks,
This is a humorous cartoon. Some posters get it. Thank you for keeping in the spirit of fun.
For the others, remember this is not a political platform or a forum for offensive anti-vegetarian arrogance. Enough of your ranting.

white, my post about my son’s odiferous emanations was done in the spirit of fun, just so’s ya know.
