That’s the way I was. I spent endless hours playing with clothes-pins fashioning them into soldiers and airplanes. Along with lengths of string to make cranes and catapults! No need for big, expensive toys. We didn’t have the money for such things and there really wasn’t a big selection to be had anyway. This was around 1931.

Have a picture of my granddaughter at the age of two. She got a toy car that year to ride on, but she liked the box it came in better. It was another two months befoare she played with the car at all.

Is Nick a distant relative of The Yellow Kid?

Every so often I’d bring a large box home from work. My two kids would play so nicely. It was a pirate ship, airplane castle doghouse… The only toy they ever played with til it broke. :D

I remember my nephew’s first Christmas… it looked like Toys R Us threw up… he was so overwhelmed with everything he just sat in the middle of it all, looked around and started crying his little eyes out.
