The single best moment in Edmonton happens every Labor Day weekend when the ESO does its “Symphony Under the Sky” concert in Hawrelak Park. For the final concert they always play the 1812 overture. For the big finale, the Princess Patricia infantry unit brings a bunch of really big cannons and shoots them off. When they do, from one end of Edmonton to the other hundreds of thousands of migratory birds go blasting off into the sky and don’t land again until they get to Kansas.
I think they know the hunting season for them is over and they are simply mocking all the hunters in the area. At least that is what a friend of mine who does hunt has joked.
