Of COURSE it started and stopped quickly. Standard plot device. However, all is not lost. Tarzan will lash the steering pole to the stub of the mast and use his loin cloth for a sail. Problem solved.

now that I think about it, Tarzan should had put some of the food inside the quiver, and issue would not had been so bad

Tarzan may be without food, but it seems to me he’s got plenty of water. Just not the drinkable variety.
