if the island was based on “reality”, I do not think it would be cape verde as it is too north, and Sao Tome might be too close to the mainland to be treacherous? ( 150 miles ) so if it a far trip it is either St helana island or the smaller Georgetown island which means about 1000 to 1200 miles trip for Tarzan at least

Would move better if the sail was roughly perpendicular to the logs, the long axis.
