His men bet on how long the beard would stay once they came home. Not if he was going to keep it, mind you. How long. Noone wanted to bet that he could keep it.
Had to shave my nearly 40-year-old beard last December in order to get a seasonal job. When it was over, I was very happy to be able to stop shaving, but I didn’t like how it looked during the growing-in period. Guess that’s one reason why I prefer to keep it long-term and not periodically get rid of it as some guys like to do.
So..is Betty going to be snide the entire time he’s growing it or give him the space to decide for himself? I’m 60 and have grown beards a few times and nobody I dated complained. Ultimately I just decided it had run its course and shaved. Now that I realize not having one knocks 10 years off vanity dictates.
