I wouldn’t put it past some high school jock to do exactly that…..and then look at the coach like he was an idiot.

My volleyball league employs a lot of 20-somethings as referees. One time the kid actually checked his phone while the ball was in play. He returned his attention just after the point had ended. He was the only one on the court who had no idea what the call was. Good times.

Unfortunately too likely to be or become real.

He was trying to look at his, ‘How to pitch’, app but still doesn’t realize that it’s really a dating app.

Don’t take it away coach. He won’t be able to get the (text) signals from the catcher. Smiley = fastball; thumbs up = curve; frowny face = slider and thumbs down = your being relieved.

Also, twitter/facebook/instagram won’t be able to help the announcers out with something to say between pitches by mining his data.
