Once had a Cocker Spaniel that actually watched an entire episode of “Lassie”. Amazing to watch – when Lassie would bark, her ears would perk up (as much as Cocker Spaniel ears could anyway). Our dogs before and since might sniff the TV screen before losing interest.
Funny thing. Dogs couldn’t actually “see” TV until the CRT (the big cathode ray tube – large box in the back) was done away with. They saw lines, but no moving pictures until modern flat screen TVs (plasma and the like) were created. Now they can actually see the moving pictures. Hence Dog TV and stuff is so popular, and why when someone watches the nature shows, dogs will go crazy looking for those animals around the back of the video screen!

It amazes me what we humans think animals can see. How do we really know? We can’t see through their eyes.
