A lot more people dress like Annie these days going to services as opposed to “dressing up” and looking nice, some of them look like they just got off an airplane trip. How things change over time.
There are people who really believe that. I knew a woman who said she always wore uncomfortable clothes to church because she had some idea it was honouring to the Lord. So she’d sit there wishing the pastor would finish preaching already so she could go home and change clothes. I wore comfortable clothes that still looked alright for church and listen to what he had to say. Let Annie wear what she likes.
“Being Christian” — if you mean Evangelical — also means supporting an unqualified philanderer and serial molester for President as long as he’s not black, gay or a woman.
Lots of the usual “let’s bash the Christians, conservatives and respectfulness”. My father was a blue collar worker, but he wore his suit and tie to take us to ball games or movies, and my mother was always dressed nicely to go grocery shopping. It was called being refined. Maybe a lack of such niceties is the reason for the loutish and often drunken behavior we see at such events these days. Dressing well for church was simply the decent thing to do in a civilized society.

Give her 15 seconds and she will tell you about Christianity.

Being highly intelligent, she perhaps does understand it but doesn’t buy it.

So Lila goes to mass. I guess that means she’s Catholic.
