olmail, if the videos you saw were Hugh Laurie (Dr. House) and Steven Fry, that was Jeeves & Wooster (not in that order). I know many people love that series, but I didn’t care for the one I saw (adapted from “The Mating Season” a/k/a “Jeeves in Springtime”).
Wodehouse plotted his novels so tightly that if any of the subplots were left out, none of the other plots could be resolved. In “Mating Season”, they trimmed some of the “complications” to make it fit into an hour format, and then had to force an ending that wasn’t nearly as neat and tidy as Wodehouse’s.
Besides, Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster was wearing a mustache! That’s unacceptable, because one of the OTHER stories hinges on Bertie growing a mustache that everybody hates.
Also, half of the fun of the Jeeves stories is that Bertie is narrating them in First Person, and any dramatization necessarily loses that entire dimension:
”’Tinkerty tonk,’ I said, and I meant it to sting!”
But why is Barney’s Dad in a retirement community? If I had that kinda dough, I’d set dad up with a room in some resort, and one of Col. Kaddafi’s nurses, if you know what I mean ; )

I have two friends who keep asking me to make ‘tapes’ for them. They are, of course, referring to CDs.

What a bunch of piffle. He should tell her that if she has the gumption to do that again, he’ll give her the old heave ho.

I just discovered the Jeeves series by Wodehouse from, what, the ’20s or so? Now THAT is some interesting lingo.
