^ They enjoy being in the corner of a US foil. It keeps us from concentrating on what they are doing.

First, it was artillery shells. The fact that it was an island and casualties were military with “collateral damage” (Think Baghdad) means that first “reports” might not be complete. The North already has artillery that can reach Seoul, they don’t need missiles or nukes.

As our primary trading partner, the Chinese probably should step up.(as they have several times already) The real question is, do you train a dog with cage and a beating, or a reward? Once you’ve beaten a dog until it’s crazy, it’s very difficult to overcome that bad experience. Maybe the real time to get the help of the Chinese was actually in 1953? Right, at that time they were just as weird, and it lasted through the “Viet Nam era”…

Maybe part of the problem is the fact that WE don’t understand, or accept any culture but our own??

Comics ARE often intended to exaggerate for effect–diplomacy is very dangerous if it does the same.

Perhaps a preemptive strike would be a good thing before it’s too late. N Korea is becoming a family dynasty with ever better nukes. Think Bush Sr. / Bush Jr. and Jr.’s need to do one better than Sr.

I wouldn’t want ANYONE to accept the culture Kim created- it sucks, like totally.

but: look at a map of how the UN drew the boundary for South Korea, notably swinging north to give the islands in question- which are only a couple thousand yards off the NORTH KOREAN mainland- to South Korea, over 100 miles north of the DMZ. This island area is where the “military exercises” keep taking place by South Korea, and the U.S. The north has repeatedly said stop that “game”. As horrible as Kim’s regime is, and the sooner gone forever the better, they do have a legitimate complaint about being harassed.

The South Koreans have admitted they fired artillery first in this incident, but claimed they didn’t aim at the north– both sides of this continuing argument have repeatedly pulled the same game.

It IS time for the US to THINK about “gunboat diplomacy” and overt and covert acts against other countries–wherever in the world.

Other nations don’t want to be americans anymore. We pay attention to what we see in reality tv and MTV, but we don’t want to be like it.

What’s interesting about this cartoon is that such criticism of President Obama is supported by the same people who think that Obama has over-reached: “The federal government spends too much money!”, “Down with big government!”

Well, you can’t have it both ways. if you want the U.S. to be the world’s police force, then that costs money.

If you want our planes to be safe but you don’t want the intrusions of backscatter or pat-downs, then you must submit to an El Al-type system, and that will cost each traveller much more inconvenience and will cost all of us a LOT more money.

    What do you want, Tea-Bags?

I enjoy the canadian landscape. Candians are kinda lame though. Look at Tom Green for example, although John Candy was sorta funny.

correction, poster with no name, politicians who make it international are often lame (don’t ask me if I like Celine Dion, ‘cause I don’t!)

There are many kick bleeep comedians and musicians, though. But they don’t make it internationally, ‘cause the ones I’m referring to mostly work in French.

    I suggest a movie for you to download (or buy); Bon Cop, Bad Cop. A collaboration between english and french Canada and a scene has a great exposé on Quebec swearing;

Didn’t know there was something like a Quebecois action movie until I watched that…

My local paper had a column that I thought was interesting and informative. I am a Bill Clinton fan….

^ Unfortunately, most people don’t even know that most entertainers you listed are Canadians. They are so identical to americans, unfortunately, that most people asume they are americans…unless they are french-canadians, then most people don’t assume anything, because they don’t hear their songs and see their movies.

Quebec movies should be translated in English, but do that and the “Montreal Canadiens are a federalist conspiracy” crowd will call you a traitor.

    Bummer.
