Skippy and his friend are in Brooklyn. It was still fairly rural then, and you could walk across the bridge to ‘the city’. In 1934 the Aquarium was located in the old Castle Garden (formerly the Battery, an old fort) located near the tip of the island. It moved to Coney Island in 1957.
