Is it a cult, a sect or an offshoot?

Sometimes, when the eternal and ubiquitous shared unconscious mind talks to me, I forget I’m not all of that and blurt out the things it says.

Cult: a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

I think the NRA and guns above people fits the definition.

Ever since he discovered those “extension pills” he purchased online don’t actually work.

Not a cult…..a protector of our Rights. The news media would like us all to believe it’s the NRA’s fault that we have horrific mass shootings. If you follow CBS news and swallow their hogwash, then you’re part of their cult.

One of the best editorial cartoons I have seen in a long time. Makes lots of people think. And some people uncomfortable. And some people outraged. And some people happy. In fact, let’s just admit that it makes everybody think—which is exactly the point of an editorial cartoon.

The NRA used to be a sportsmans’ organization concerned with gun safety. Then anti-government radicals, encouraged by Reagan’s idiocy took over the organization and made it the anti-government poster child. The history is clear. The rise of the gun cult is tied directly to the nihilistic hatred of government movement which is its quasi-religious wellspring.

Proud lifetime member of the NRA. Notice that gun grabbers like Stahler accuse the NRA of being a cult. I’ll tell you who the real cult is it’s the left wing. Members of a cult in a lot of cases think and act without being rational. That’s the Left in a nutshell. I think it’s funny!

The cartoon depicts two men walking together so they are at least acquaintances if not friends. One of the two is wearing a pistol on his hip, which I construe as an indication he fears for his life, else why would he be “packing”? The other individual appears to be ‘unarmed’ which, contextually, I am assuming means that he feels ‘safe’ enough not to need a weapon to protect himself from other people – to most, this translates to being “manly”!

The reference to a ‘cult’ is problematical, though! At least to the majority of posters, they think it references our local domestic terrorist organization, the National Rifle Association. Now, I would quibble a bit on that interpretation because, to me, a “cult” is religious in some way, and the N.R.A., while it is MANY things (including a funnel for Russian money used in an effort to subvert and destroy America) I do not see it as particularly religious in nature (though my definition of ‘religious’ is probably wildly different than most, I’ll grant!) And, yes, I see the initials on the baseball cap the gun-toter is wearing – but I reserve the right to be obtuse and argumentative for the sake of arguing and making a point

Oh, and, by the way, I’ve NEVER felt the need to “prove” MY manhood by displaying any props!

The biggest cult is made up of those who believe in and trust government to take care of them.

Ever notice how Republicans in Congress often disagree? They are willing to take a stand and defend what they believe. Democrats on the other hand will vote in lock-step. The only time they will vote against the party leadership is when their vote doesn’t matter. Then they are allowed to vote in a way that that their constituents actually want so they can point to that vote when reelection time comes around.

    Liberalism is a true cult.
