No such thing. Get rid of the most egregious excesses first. If you have a set of clippers, going over the whole thing first on the lowest setting is ideal – but it’s not essential. Just use plenty of foam, a new blade or disposable razor, running water to keep the razor unfouled, and patience. Work the foam well in; work on a few square inches at a time. Re-lather as necessary.
Been there, done that probably half a dozen times.
The first time I grew a beard I has a terrible time trimming it. I ended up taking a little off here and a little off there and by the time I was done it was gone. After that I learned to plan ahead. I put shaving cream where I DIDN’T want the whiskers.
Y’know, the sexiest thing in the world is to watch your man shave with an old fashioned shaving brush and a mug of soap. The one bad thing about Hubby’s beard is that he no longer does that. Ah, me.
My husband has a massive beard and he’s never had this issue when he trims. He uses scissors for the long bits, then uses his electric at varying levels, then finishes off with a disposable razor for a smooth finish.
Give it another week or three. Meantime wash with your regular shampoo and conditioner. It will soften it. And if you still want to shave it off, start in the shower and shave it off with the conditioner, not the soap. I’ve done this more than once, but the last time was about 12 years ago.
