It’s a poem from the CD, “Shirttail Creek”. That’s the front of the case over in the avatar section, there.

I need feedback here. If nobody reads it,then………..?

And I don’t mind opening myself up to my friends!, Much of what I write is auto-biographical. And If I say I’ve done something…..I have. Probably because I’ve never done it before. I have a bad habit of doing that and sometimes, wishing I hadn’t done that.

    Good morning Villegers.

Hey Slim, I did read your poem last night, although it didn’t catch on anything in my head at the time. Read it again this AM and I liked it very much, made me think of places I used to go in my youth.

Montana Lady, waiting to hear that you and your Mountain Man got home OK.

    OK, TTFN \\//_

    Good morning Vagabonds……

The continuing saga……………… We are stuck in MINNEAPOLIS!!! Our plane left Raleigh an hour late, and arrived in Minn. a half hour late, and our plane took off without us. They put us up for the night, and now we’re heading to the Mall of America for a few hours. There is only one flight to Helena each day, 9:35 p.m., arriving at 11:15 p.m. Only problem is that we have received 16 inches of snow so far, and we won’t make it home tonight. so another hotel tonite, and hope they clear the roads up to the house (3 miles up the hill on a dirt road). Hopefully the airplane will be able to land in all this white stuff!!!!

    So, keep happy thoughts, okay.

Slim read your poem. I love hearing your stories! Keep them coming.

MontanaLady….. This storm is pretty much from border to border, and from the west coast to the high plains.

Here in Tucson, we are about to get our share of it over the next 2-3 days. Might even get a dusting of snow here in town. I’ve been here for almost 20 years and I can remember seeing snow on the ground, and not much of it, only once.

Thank you for the feedback, friends. I will continue with the occasional bit “Life of Floyd”, It will come under one of two titles: Either, “From the CD” or, “Slim’s Snapshots”. The latter will be memorable memories, at least to the guy that lived them.

Because of the hours I’m keeping, I don’t get much beyond ” Good Morning”, and do most of my long posts in the afternoon, when I don’t feel rushed. So, please check to see if I’ve put anything up late!!

Again, thank you for your encouragement.

Can hardly wait, though I have to, for the CD to get put on the net so you can all see how bad a musician I really am.

“Slim’s Snapshots” will vary in length, and will frequently be dated…… At least, those I find among my journals.

Oh, this is going to be fun!! :-))))

This is a poem of kinda sad remembrance. I wrote it for the “Shirttail Creek CD. It is so many of the things I’ll never see or do again. But I do have my memories!

    ……….”JUST ONCE MORE”……….

Just once more I’d like to go Where the water flows cold from last winter’s snow. Where the trout swims, firm and sleek, And deer come down to drink from the creek. Where black bear wander the forest floor, And overhead the eagles soar. To spread my blankets in the canyon’s deep While the murmuring creek lulls me to sleep. Then to rise in the first light of day, All eager and ready to continue my way.

Just once more I’d like to be Some place by the side of the sea. Down a new road, around a bend, Never knowing where the trip might end. I loved to go a-yondering, here and there, With the sun on my back and the wind in my hair. From mountain to prairie to desert glare, One time or another I’ve likely been there. So many tell me what I missed along the way. “well, I can’t see itr all”, is what I say.

Just once more I’d like to hear Aloon’s cry, loud and clear, A steam engine’s whistle on a cold still night. A coyote’s howl in the deepening twilight. But time goes on at it’s steady pace And no one knows how long the chase. What once became gray now goes white, And life has brought both sorrow and delight. But before I leave for that unknown shore, I’d like to go a-yondering,,,,, Just….. Once….. More.

Just Once More was written a few months after I’d been in the hospital with a life-threatening situation. When I wrote the poem, I was very much aware of my mortality.
