My son went through a door slamming phase which lasted until his father pointed out that if he broke the door on his bedroom, he was going to have to live in a bedroom with no door, because we were not going to replace a door he broke. That did the trick.
It’s something boys go through, as they struggle to learn how to let their anger out in way that aren’t destructive. Of course, it’s just as bad to hold the anger in. For me, this was hardest thing to get right, and perhaps the most frustrating part of my childhood.
I had a neighbour that tolerated her son behaving this way, and all that did was give him permission to escalate his misbehaviour. He became very abusive towards his mother. He’s now in prison for getting mixed up in drugs (using and pushing.)
People, and especially children, need the security of boundaries — which by nature they will push. Kind of like the yellow line, traffic signal, posted speed limit, and variety of road signs. Their purpose is for our safety, whether we like it or not. Imagine having none of them along the road as we drive. Talk about stress! That’s how a child would feel in a “no rules” or “whatever makes you happy” home environment.
In my house when the first door slammed he would have gone BACK IN, closed the door softly and come back out and closed the door softly………door slamming was not permitted.
It time father take full control of Mike take him to office drill out tooth with out numbing it. Best way is to take your Mike out eat Mother and Father ONLY see if can sit and talk this through .

Displaying that kind of temper would have gotten my kids are sharper reprimand, and a smack on the bum – regardless of age.

Careful, Mike – that’s the sort of behavior that earned me “no T.V., no books, no friends over, and you can make your own lunch”.

I’ll be glad when he gets his tv privileges back. Funny thing though, it doesn’t bother Elizabeth in the least little way.

Michael’s attitude sucks, but this will happen every month…probably starting when Elizabeth is 12 or 13.
