Never tried a Tim Horton Donut, but I really hope they are better than the Dunkin Donuts I have tried, there’s a smell and taste to the oil that I can only refer to as chemical, the only chain that I have tried that is worse than DD for this is Krispy Kreme, just makes me nauseous walking past the outlet.
I was very sad when Tim’s left New England. Are they anywhere in the US? They had good coffee and in addition to fruit, yogurt and other healthy snacks, they had smaller donuts too, which although are still not healthy, were enough to satisfy my donut longing. Every single Dunkin Donuts is mobbed every morning. They are on every corner too. Their pastries aren’t anything to get excited over, much less their Coffee. I never go there unless I have to get something for work.
“The Tim Hortons system presently consists of more than 850 restaurants in the United States (primarily located in the States of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, New York, West Virginia, the northeastern region of Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Maine), and over 4,400 restaurants systemwide. Our current expansion is primarily concentrated in (and the areas surrounding) Rochester, Syracuse, New York City (New York); Detroit, Bay City, Midland, Lansing, Grand Rapids (Michigan); Columbus, Dayton, Toledo (Ohio); Erie (Pennsylvania); and Wheeling (West Virginia).”
Well, I will settle the matter ONCE and FOR ALL! It’s Timmy Ho’s by a LANDSLIDE! Unless the location you go to doesn’t make their donuts on site and brings them in from another location. They tend to be not so fresh then.
There are at least half a dozen Tim Horton’s locations within a 2 block radius of where I am sitting right now, including two in my building (one at street level and one in the food court below). They are very popular in Canada. I don’t eat the donuts, but the coffee is good, and they have good sandwiches at lunch.
DD was once so much better. A DD franchise had to be open 24 hours, they made fresh donuts every 4 hours, and brewed coffee every hour or better. In the future, they want to be known as “Dunkin’.”
If you find a Timmy’s, start with their crullers, or the unglazed sour cream with milk or coffee for dunking – Heavenly! In my village, Timmy’s will do custom orders (simple changes like more or less sugar, etc.) if you buy a dozen.

Both side will probably end up glazed, when their cup of Joe cools off.

Never had Tim Horton’s, but I’ve had lots of Krispy Kremes and Dunkin’ Donuts. Entemann’s from the grocery store is better than both of them.

In my little burg are two shops that slay any that I have ever eaten (no Hortons yet, to be fair) – a warm maple bar right out of the oven, yummmmm!

Don’t know on the donuts but good coffee.

Fortunately for me, I live in Memphis, home of Gibson’s Donuts. Gibson’s is justly favored by Alton Brown. DD and KK just can’t compare.

Krispy Kreme is better than either one of those.
