I was driving thru a wooded area, one time, and a large owl flew across the road in front of me. I was going slow so I didn’t hit it but it was close. An amazing sight.
Owls, hawks frequent visitors and ospreys at my place. They want the birds and squirrels, fish I feed. They sit up in the tall trees surveying their domain while I helplessly throw rocks, shoot water and yell empty threats.
Monty, you probably did a much better version of the titmouse call than you realized, if it managed to fool that big critter that was looking for a titmouse for lunch.
Decades ago we were mobbed by a great grey while carrying a ferret on a walk. No matter what we did it came back trying to get a hold on her until I funneled her down the neck of my coat while repeatedly raising my head like a bird swallowing. Once the owl thought I had eaten her it left us alone.

Hey, if the hat enjoys it also, then it can’t be that bad, right?

I have a view of an Eagle’s nest from right where I sit. I can see them come and go, but I use binoculars to get a closer view of their details.

Maybe Monty’s hat reminded the owl of a bunny wunnie? Nice Hat trick.

So he was attracted to the hat, and not they guy. Interesting. Weird but interesting.

Monty’s hat is getting more action than he is.

This comic made the front page. Considering their past track record, I’m surprised they didn’t censor a word in the first balloon.

Actually happened to a friend of mine, although he was deliberately calling Barred Owls. Didn’t see it coming, cost him a few stitches in his scalp.

I suspect a horned owl might look upon a tufted titMonty as prey. Or maybe it is a horny owl….

Actually, I think you might’ve recited the defense strategy for Michael Peterson.

That hat deserves to have “something bad happen” to it!
