A participation trophy is a lot like a concert ticket stub, it reminds you that you were there and not much else. Some things we would be better off without being reminded.
Considering the number of people who don’t participate in anything, I don’t see why doing so is considered not important. Not everyone can win, but everyone can TRY!
Success is merely failing over and over again with the determination to continue. Without that feeling of failure, there is not much desire to succeed, nor is there much enjoyment in succeeding. With everyone being given a participation trophy, the trophy holds nearly no value—the larger the quantity of something, the less its worth.

He should’ve kept it. At least he got a trophy. I usually get medals instead. Nate, you should’ve appreciated it and kept it.

I just want to thank Lincoln Peirce for acknowledging that kids don’t actually care about participation trophies.

As president of the Midwest trophy dealers association I disagree with the sentiment of this comic strip.

Despite Nate’s over inflated ego, competitive nature, and lust for a spot light no matter how dim it it, he still tosses the trophy in the trash.

The participation trophy lowers self esteem more than having no trophy at all
