Woman: Doesn't that pushy dad know he's supposed to stay off the field during the tryouts? Man: He knows. Dawn's dad: Aha! I'm not on the field, am I? I know my rights! I'm a lawyer. Dawn: Daddy. Ray: And I'm a trainer. But you can call me "Your Honor."

“play” is the operative word. too many adults (like in last week’s strips) lose sight of that.in my hockey refereeing career, i would occasionally ask a parent that was getting too loud if he or she would care (about whatever caused the reaction) had the game been played on a pond with no adult supervision and no team jerseys. always got that same gob-smacked look of utter disbelief, just before i reminded them that the kids playing didn’t much care about what parents thought.

Hear, hear! Of course, there is a problem in pond hockey of dividing into the traditional shirts and skins “uniforms”.

The word “cool” does not seem to be operative at all.
