I love the “just sort of casually thrown in” Emile Zola reference. Also have to admit I’m glad I’ve made it way past the pooey babies stage of my life; no way I could handle it now. When they were living on milk and then baby food I was pretty brave when faced with those diapers, but when they graduated to actual human food it made a world of horrible difference. Like changing an adult’s diaper … :-)
