Why is the United States the only industrialized nation not to offer free PUBLIC education through college? When I went to college in the 1960’s, there was no college tuition at PUBLIC colleges and universities in my state (California). UCLA, UC Berkeley, state colleges and universities.
When my daughter graduated from California State University San Marcos, tuition was many thousands of dollars.
To “make American great again” we need to do what made American great in the first place: strong labor unions, strong middle class and, yes, free PUBLIC education through college.
A lot of high school graduates have figured out that liberal arts degrees are worthless unless you have connections, and are now entering trade schools, apprenticeships, or hard science programs at University. A lot better then incurring $100K or more in student debt and then making maybe 50k/year, would you like fries with that?
I went to Cal State Humboldt for three years plus one year post-grad. When I left, my student loan bill was a whopping three thousand dollars. It was an amazing time back then … before lenders realized that they didn’t have to wait until graduation to bleed students dry.

Republicans will hold you to those student loans,
it was their idea in the first place to charge so much for education.
In many countries education is free.

It would be nice if colleges got out of “business” and got back into education.

About a week after that wild Grad party we all know you have planned, head on over to McDonald’s. They’re looking for “fresh outs” to flip burgers.
