I’d bet she doesn’t allow pretzel rods in the house because the kids could pretend that they are smoking.

I’m torn about this. While we never had a firearm in the house, and taught our kids at an early age that the whole “self protection” thing was a sham, we did allow air soft guns, and our son did have a Red Rider BB gun. The BB gun was only used at the shooting range we set up for him. We did allow their friends to come over for air soft battles, however. It goes without saying that they understood it was play, always had to wear approved eye protection, and each child had their parent’ express permission (i.e., the parents told us personally). Today, our sons neither own nor have any desire to own weapons even though one became a very good shot with a .22 and shotgun in Boy Scouts.

I spent 6 years in the army so you can guess my opinion.

Society would be much more polite if most people carried guns.

I have the perfect compromise for the gun issue: since 95%+ gun killings take place in areas where people vote 90%+ democrat, we simply make voting democrat a disqualifier for a gun permit.

And they don’t make candy cigarettes any more because the tobacco lobby doesn’t back them. That’s why the cigars are grape and banana and strawberry flavored now.
