Hear! Hear! Same thing for the kneelers. If you want to protest, do it on your own dime. Take out a newspaper or magazine ad. Pay for commercials on radio or television or the Web. Don’t do it on company time and their/our money.
Smartman: I know the First extremely well, and I also know the history of the time in which it was conceived. The First is meant to protect free speech in the public square, in the press, and in addressing the government and our elected representatives. It was not and is not intended to ensure free speech in a place of business in which you are an employee. Moreover, the right of free speech does not mean that others do not have the right to disagree with you and to take non-violent action against you.
I am all in favor of athletes speaking their minds – just not on company time.
