This one is for those who are still surprised when a character breaks the fourth wall, or in any way acknowledges that they’re in a strip- as if some current cartoonist only just invented the idea.

I have always enjoyed how Bud Fisher interacted with his own characters, along with Mutt and Jeff both being aware of, and often discussing the fact that they are in a comic strip
