I was thinking that as I watched the movie “Arrival” last evening.

Well, there is “Rosetta Stone”, but it is probably sitting unused on a shelf somewhere.

The idea is that any species capable of traveling this far must have a complete language, and any complete language should be at least broadly translatable to any other.

If we could, some of them might be telling us, “so long and thanks for all the fish.”

Reminds me of a Star Trek picture I once saw. It said something like “before we start finding lives on other planets, let’s stop killing the ones here on Earth”

Worse yet, they find things like the Kentucky Derby for them.

That horse walking on its hind legs looks like its trying to say something.
