Those around such tables know lesser than dogs… But do they let that limit them?

I’ve had several dogs that had significantly larger vocabularies. I think the “200 word” limit is words that they’ll respond to, not understand.

I HAVE HAD TWO DOGS OF THE FOUR THAT HAVE SHARED MY LIFE LONG TERM, THAT NOT ONLY UNDERSTOOD MORE THAN 200 WORDS, BUT UNDERSTOOD THEM IN 4 LANGUAGES. oops sorry about the cap lock, guys, My teufel hund the Shiba Inu, took commands in German, French, Italian and English and adapted a different persona for each language spoken. Italian, spoken by MIL and GMIL turned him into a snugly lap dog, English was the home language, and German spoken on walks in the city turned him into “Killer” his street name. When my daughter brought home her Canadian boyfriend from college; the dog immediately understood every French word spoken to him by my then future SIL.

I had a dog that would respond to the word “walk” and feel disappointed if he didn’t get one after it was mentioned. So my wife and I started spelling it. He picked that up pretty quick, too. So we started saying it backwards “klaw”. He caught on to that, so we had to start spelling it backwards. He passed away before he picked that one up.
