In other news, I was going to write an actual letter to Andrew McMeel Syndication to tell them what a swell comic Nancy is these days, but I’m having trouble affecting a suitable air of ironic detachment – any help?
@ResidentIdiot: I think you already have it nailed. You must have been wearing tennis sneakers and chewing gum when you wrote that comment. I’m going the non-ironic modern route by giving Nancy five stars, an A+, and the comment “makes me laugh. Excellent seller, would read again” on eBay.
So, we’re having a discussion over at the other site and I thought some enlightened readers here could shed some light on it. We’re trying to determine the purpose of the table. Is it to take up space so that a third panel isn’t needed? Or could it be a school desk? I doubt that, but one guy thinks it is. First, there’s no chair. Second, the open space on the side makes no sense. Third, if there WAS a chair for Nancy to sit in, she would be at about nose level with the top of it. Never mind how poorly it’s drawn; we’ve been through all that. Just what is it and why is it there? Thanks for any of your thoughts!

Technical compliance is the best compliance.

K-L? And it looks like they are nice and cool in that classroom as well. Welcome to modern times, Nance.

Oh Nancy, the board is most likely behind you.

Nancy likes being the rebel in the room. Besides, this way, if she gets it wrong, the wrong answer will evaporate.

This strip is only here because there’s some affirmative action requirement for comic strips involving math and window steam!

Look no further than and send them this very strip for that “…suitable air of ironic detachment…”

This Nancy stinks. They should have restarted from the beginning instead of having someone else do it.

Maybe the side of the table was eaten away by midtermites.
Not a great pun, but its creation was absolutely non dependant upon 21st centurty technology.

Doing math like that is probably better for the mental health, as opposed to on a monotonous whiteboard or a blackboard.
