Esther’s sleeve is slightly shorter in the first panel than it is in the other two panels!! How can anyone enjoy this strip when there’s so much blatant inconsistency???? Spare me your retorts, spending my time finding the smallest nits to pick to convince people of the rightness of my subjective aesthetic taste is my HOBBY.
Is Nancy EVER going back to the was it was? I hate this look and the story lines are terrible. As much as I’ve enjoyed Nancy all through my life, I will give it up if it keeps up this way.
Nice. Esther though…. no wonder she is grumpy most of the time…. whomever cut her bangs…. did a really bad job. There is always that patch between the bangs and her longer hair. :)
To me, it is interesting that for some reason (perhaps the bangs and their shape, or perhaps the shape of her face)… Esther is often reminding me of Peppermint Patty from “Peanuts.”
We’re almost in the Escher zone, look out! The perspective in panel 2 is like one those rooms of illusions where children appear larger than their parents. The girls would have to be 5 feet tall, based on where they stand in relation to the ceiling and the teacher. Then, they’ve shrunk almost back to normal size in panel 3 and receded considerably from the teacher. But they’re still abnormally large for grade schoolers, and now the teach looks like a midget from the perspective shift. I can’t wait ‘til they walk out the door and re-enter the room at the same time, which would fit with the running gag of endless school. Comparing this work and the previous artist’s style is like comparing Van Gogh to Rembrandt. Or maybe more accurately, comparing something drawn by a prison tattoo artist to the disproportionate woman airbrushed on the side of your creepy Uncle Lester’s old custom van (but at least it had a beautiful interior). It’s apples to oranges.
Disclaimer: i like the new Nancy, and this is just my warped perspective. Personally i don’t mind the minimalist approach, I find it puts more emphasis on the gag.

Is Ms Jalmes stuck with school themes?? This could be a long summer for both Nancy and myself.

I would assume that Generation Z members are like Millennials and don’t like their conversations being overheard.

Crossover alert! Someone on the Alley Oop page noted that the first panel of that strip today had three rocks in it LOL

The sleeve length is caused by an optical illusion. A mild one though.
