The lament of every father, that their young child is unable to distinguish between them and a giant, overweight, nearly bald, man with no teeth and a demented look when he is looking at fruits and vegetables. I have seen enough “baby gets startled by father when he shaves off his beard” videos to know that if Lizzie is walking, she is old enough to recognize her father. It makes me think we are looking at a time when Lizzie was younger
Kind of reminds of my nephew. I spent a lot of time trying to get him to say ma ma …. eventually got him to say it but he’d say ma ma to everybody and everything but his mom.
I’m curious, were these old strips that were tweaked a bit round the edges, to give Lynn a bit of a break? Or were they new strips that go back in time?
My grandfather – my mother’s father – was living with us when I was a baby. I was his favorite grandchild (not bragging; just stating established family fact) and he had cancer. He wanted to hear me say “Mama” before he died, so he worked with me often. One day my mother had taken my 5 older siblings to my grandmother’s house (they were divorced & she remarried) to go swimming when he called the house, saying “Therese! Come quickly!” Since I was not a well infant she thought something was wrong, so she bundled all of the kids in their towels, got them in the car & raced home. She opened the door & there he stood, beaming: “She said ‘Mama’!” I was sitting on the floor, happily saying “Mama! Mama!”…pointing at him! (He died exactly 1 week before my first birthday.)
