Mike’s joke is perfect. He essentially says Elizabeth was easy because Elly and John stank as parents when he was a baby and they had to learn how to parent because of him. He has a combination of truth and insult and while Elly may be giving him the slant eye in the final panel, you notice she is not denying it.
That seems to be the case for most parents. As the second born (and final born), I was apparently much easier as a baby. With my older brother, my parents didn’t even know how to get him to sleep through the night. By the time I came along, I seemed easy in comparison to a three year-old boy!
