Many things are not make to be repaired. Or would cost to much to repair to be worth it. If my toaster stopped toasting it would cost me more in time, money and going without toast to be worth waiting for it to be repaired (if cleaning it doesn’t fix it), then if I buy a new toaster. Large appliances are different and I have service contracts on those. Just replaced the icemaker in my fridge last month under the service contract.
I have found things that people have thrown away that are still good. Found a desk chair, coffee table, two tv stands, and a side table with doors. And when I buy something, I keep it for a LONG time. I have my computer since 2004 and only replaced it last year. Went from XP to 10 overnight.

Ah! But Betty, we used to be able to take everything apart before we threw them out!

Too bad we live in a “throw away” world.

If YouTube doesn’t have a DIY video for what you need to fix, it ain’t worth fixin’.

Like I’ve been saying, get a Raspberry Pi, 3D printer, and start inventing.
