I pass a couple of wind farms when I drive between Wichita, KS and Oklahoma City. I’m always taken by how majestic the wind turbines look with their long slender blades. I remember a couple of years earlier watching semi trucks carrying the blades. The scale made a huge impression on me.
There was a contestant on Jeopardy who, when asked what her occupation was, said she designed wind turbine blades. Since, to my limited mind, they all seem pretty basic and similar, how could one spend that much time on designing them?
how else do you take wide open spaces of natural even beautiful scenery and impregnate it with man-made disfigurement? so I say let’s get our monies worth ‘tell the pilate to fire ’em up and take US to someplace fun!!!!" (I have to drive by them all the time – ’MY opinion’ – they are like the huge electric power lines but, at least the power lines are worthwhile).

daveoverpar I guess it’s a matter of taste. I think they’re pretty, even if they weren’t saving anything.

All I can think of is the description of the Martian invaders as Wells wrote it in the book. Made quite an impression!

Funny that this showed up at the top of my Facebook feed right before I read the comic.
