I love a happy tail. However, the potential for destruction and collateral damage is indeed high. Fortunately, Poncho does not have to go around that end to steal the ball.
I occurred to me a while back that a dog with a ball in its mouth is always a happy dog. It may just be carrying the ball rather than actively doing anything with it, but a dog that has a ball always gives an air of “I have a ball, and life is good.”
(I have no reason to believe that’s why the phrase “I’m having a ball” means “I’m enjoying myself,” but it SHOULD be.)

This one made me laugh. It’s always fun to watch a happy dog.

In real life, when our dog was a puppy, we put everything breakable out of reach of her tail, just like we did when we had crawling toddlers…

Oops forgot Cassidy, our Ridgeback whose tail was like steel and would go a mile a minute for a new toy.

This is like on of the Family Circus strips where you see Billy’s trail.
Maybe Hudson’s tail could be employed against Squirrelzilla?
Speaking of which, Cleo would know how to deal with Squirrelzilla:

And I thought Moxie’s tail was dangerous! She’s knocked stuff over, but never damaged my car. I guess I should be grateful.
