    Management has a big, secret meeting and my best friend won’t tell me what was discussed. Layoffs would be the first thing I’d think of.

    If you haven’t picked up on that at work by now, then you are very clueless… an observant employee would notice the slow down in work, management’s attempts to control expenses, no bonuses (if they had them), and the many, many closed door management meetings. Norm is oblivious…

    I had this question on an interview once: If you knew your work friend was about to be laid off just as s/he was planning on buying a house, would you tell him/her? I’m glad I didn’t get that job.
