This is what should have happened after yesterday’s strip:
Dick (on phone): “Ernie? Did you send a truck to pick up the sourdough bread?…The bread you asked me to make for that charity event…You don’t know anything about this? Lizz! It’s a trap! Keep your gun handy while you let them in.”
Tess isn’t much of a detective if she failed to notice the obviously phony moustache.
Tracy knows Sawtooth’s appearance. All he would have to do is look out the window to recognize that one of the delivery men has the stance and form of the man he knows is out to kill him.
Classic Tracy – the last panel says much without any dialog at all. Gould used silent panels very effectively, and this follows suit.
Very nice attention to detail – the “i” in “Ernie’s” is a fork! For a name that is (probably) a one off for this portion of this one story only, that’s pretty cool.
It’s good to see Tess again. After Bonnie Braids was born she was usually in the strip and was always dressed to the Nines like she is in today’s strip.
Sawtooth and Grimm are in the house, and Sawtooth is getting ready to spring his trap.
But did Tracy have time to warn Tess (or did Tess sense on her own) that something is amiss here? Why these two big gents and a big truck for a few loaves of bread? (One of my summer jobs when I was young and in school was working on a loading dock and occasionally riding out with one of our trucks as second man to help with unloading, but I was nowhere near as big as Grimm as he assists that guy in the ’70s “porn ’stache”….)

Good morning™, patiently waiting spiders !
Tess is a good actor ! Where is Dick hiding, waiting to spring the trap ?

Is that a genuine Ernie’s logo patch on ’tooth’s shirt or some cheap pretend knock off ?

First panel: Grimm’s face actually looks credible.

Hopefully, Tracy’s suspicious enough to get his service revolver.

I meant to say BEFORE Bonnie Braids was born. Afterwards she was seen much less frequently.
